Hope Said Psychiatry

How I started

As a young nurse I always knew there was more to treating a person than just taking vital signs, passing meds and following other nursing procedures with-in the very institutionalized, sterile four walls of how we treated the sick. This led me on a search for a more compassionate approach.

The young-minded, idealistic belief I could change the way we as a profession treated patients (silly, I know) drove me to continue to learn and to pursue holistic avenues. After several decades of study and seeking out the best experts in the holistic/integrative industry to advance my nursing education, I have had some successes in changing this perspective throughout my years of working in the field. I have also come to realize that shifting the perspective of treatment is done by one patient’s success story at a time. Come join me on this journey.

If you are looking for better ways to:

  • Get in touch with your emotions
  • Be calmer
  • Be more present in your life — for your children, your spouse, or your purpose

If you are tired of being told to try harder — have read every self-help book on the market, listen to numerous podcasts while praying daily, and that isn’t working… it’s because this is a Nervous System Dysregulation problem, not your faith or a head knowledge issue. There is a new approach in the treatment of mental health that a pill or talk therapy won’t always fix.

Why I’m here

In 2020, I lost my job to Covid cutbacks. During this in-between period, I started working on a dream I’d had for a long time and began building a small office next to the horse stables run by my husband. What had seemed like a setback in my life, I now saw as a golden opportunity to finally reach the women on my heart and give them the kind of place I was looking for when I needed help. This is my dream, my burden, my love, my hope: to give other women the help they need to heal and grow and be the best they can be for their families, their churches, their communities, and every area they influence.

So many women are suffering from mother-wounds, hidden traumas caused by the people they should have been safest with. These wounds can lie under the surface for a long time–hidden, but never healed–causing stress, guilt, anger, loneliness, depression, anxiety, and many other problems. Our unresolved emotions spill over, affecting the people around us: our husbands, our children, our dearest friends…

My goal is to help you learn how to address your trauma and the problems it is causing you, to process your feelings so you can let go of them. We will go deeper than the symptoms, right down to the root where the pain begins, because that is where your healing will begin. Together, we will do more than help you cope: we will help you heal and grow.

If you are looking for sound counsel, healing, and real help, and you’re willing to put the work in, then I’m here to help you.

What I do

At Hope Said Psychiatry I provide a Neuroscience-Based, Faith-Aligned, Solution Oriented approach to treating mental health.

I offer a quiet, serene place where self-motivated persons can find sound counsel and real help in a safe environment. I mostly help women as I believe that’s where I can be the most help, however, I also work with a few men who are willing to put in the work to reach their goals and who I believe will truly benefit from the kind of help I can give.

I work with many different kinds of people, including those dealing with a painful past or injury, who are or have been in a difficult relationship, dealing with a family member’s addiction or their own codependency patterns, struggling with PTSD, anxiety, or ADD/ADHD, and those working through grief and loss.

If you have been looking for wise counsel, a holistic approach, and are willing to put in the work, then I’m here for you. I believe faith (not religion) holds the key. It is a resource I will draw on as we work to find the personally unique healing process that will work for you.

“What is your hope for recovering, for feeling better?”

Methods I use and why

I use methods such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Meditation/Mindfulness, and the Power of Presence for treating trauma or difficult experiences.

I am a firm believer in the 2-way mind/body connection–meaning the stress response (when dealing with a difficult situation) signals to the body first, then the body sends stress signals to the brain. The body holds the tension from what the brain can’t process. My belief is this could potentially cause autoimmune, migraines, chronic pain, digestion problems, or other difficult to treat health issues. Newer research is telling us that to get to the root of the problem we must treat the mind.

This is demonstrated by incorporating the 2-way mind-body connection methods. I have several success stories using somatic therapies, which allows the physical self time to process deep and painful memories that have been stored in the brain.

Our emotional health is JUST AS IMPORTANT as our physical health.
